So Much for the Catholic and Orthodox Hierarchies Anti-Israeli Posture: Palestinian Christian Arabs Vote with Their Feet

So Much for the Catholic and Orthodox Hierarchies Anti-Israeli Posture: Palestinian Christian Arabs Vote with Their Feet

I have so often read of the canard that the Christian Arab minority among the Palestinian Arabs in Israel are mistreated by the Israelis.

The (Arab) prelates in the Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox Churches in that part of the world plainly sympathize with the Muslim terrorists over the Israelis.

More recently, American columnist Robert Novak wrote a column detailing alleged mistreatment of the Christian Arabs by the Israelis.

Well, Joseph Farah, an evangelical Protestant Christian American of Syrian-Lebanese descent, has been a steady voice for the reality on the ground, which is that the Palestinian Christian Arabs have suffered VASTLY more under the hands of their Muslim brethren than under the Israelis.

Want some proof?  How about Lenin's time-honored saw that people "vote with their feet?"

Well, Farah has an excellent piece detailing how the Christian Arabs in Israel are relocating -- AWAY from their Muslim neighbors and TO the Israeli-controlled sectors.

Hmmmm.  Wonder why the MSM never talks about this trend?

Perhaps, because it does not fit in with their pro-Islamic-terrorist/anti-Israeli agenda.

gunjam, a few facts:

Farah's article is about East Jerusalem. Those individuals he is talking about are moving from one Jerusalem neighborhood to another to avoid the Wall that Israel is building. Probably because if they lived on the wrong side of the wall, they would lose their jobs and/or wouldn't be able to attend their universities.

East Jerusalem has a relatively high percentage of Christian Palestinians compared to other areas of Palestine, for obvious reasons.

The real tragedy, which curiously you seem to be unaware of, is that Christian Palestinians in Bethlehem couldn't move to any neighborhood in Jerusalem whether they wanted to or not. In fact they are mostly prohibited from traveling to Jerusalem. This prohibition is from Israel.

To clarify this a bit more, in case you or another reader still doesn't get it:

Palestinians in the West Bank, and even more so in Gaza, both Christian and Muslim (yes there are some Christians in Gaza) live in sort of a permanent lockdown situation enforced by Israel. They can't travel from one Palestinian town to another (never mind traveling to Israel) without getting special permission and going through a checkpoint. Now you may ask, "but why does Israel care whether Palestinians travel to other Palestinian towns in Palestine--what does that have to do with Israel?" The answer is: It's a way to destroy the Palestinian economy and social structure. No, I'm not paranoid. All you have to do is go there yourself, and you will see it with your own eyes.

The end goal of Israel is to get all the Palestinians to leave. Of course, that isn't going to happen. But, many of the better educated Palestinians with relatives abroad (and many of these people are Christian) have emigrated out of desperation and the knowledge they can live in the U.S. or perhaps another country, in freedom. Yes, gunjam, there are Palestinians in America!

Just one more footnote: I have known many Palestinian Christians in New York. I never heard a one claim they were discriminated against by Muslim Palestinians. Nor did I hear such a thing from Christian Palestinians I met in Palestine.

Why can't you admit I know more about this subject than you do?

hi, elizabeth, you are intellectually dishonest if you do not acknowledge that Joseph Farah has written repeatedly of Muslim depradations against (Palestinian) Christian Arabs. Go on to the www.wnd.net site and search the archives. Like the MSM, you simply ignore any information that contradicts your obviously anti-Israeli, Jihadist-whitewashing worldview. The extent of your knowledge is not necessarily proportional to your grasp of the truth. Like your buddy who Eddie Said who taught at Columbia, you live in a parallel universe to those of us who realize that the Jews never have posed a threat to us, but the Islamofascists are a threat to BOTH the Jews AND Christians (to say nothing of the Buddhists, Hindus, and others). You crack me up, really. We read virtually daily of Muslims persecuting their Christian countrymen in Egypt, Lebanon, Indonesia, Pakistan, Iraq, and Sudan. Yet, somehow, you seek to tell us (with a straight face, no less) that the violence-worshipping Palestinian Islamofascists have only benevolent feelings for their Christian Arab neighbors. (Does that include using pages from the Bible in the Church of the Nativity for toilet paper when they fled their from Israeil troops years ago?) -- gunjam

If you were under siege in a church for days, you might end up resorting to using Bible pages for toilet paper too.

I believe what I see and hear with my own eyes and ears more than what I read...

And I'm not about to spend time browsing the archives of a propaganda website.

hi, elizabeth! You are totally blind. If a Christian Arab in the PA-controlled wastelands of Israel (whether under siege or no) EVER did with the pages of the Qur'an what those al-Fatah animals did with the pages of Holy Scripture, they would have met with a most grisly end. Are you even intellectually honest enough to acknowledge this simple, obvious truth and obvious contrast. Why did the asshats take refuge in a Church, when there are mosques in the immediate vicinity? (Hint: Because they didn't want to treat a mosque the way the treated that Christian church.) Tell us once and for all, elizabeth, in your heart of hearts, are you a Muslim revert? -- gunjam
