How Does That Crow Taste, Mr. Hewitt?

How Does That Crow Taste, Mr. Hewitt?

The other day, I was listening to the Hugh Hewitt radio talk show, and host, Hugh Hewitt was crowing about how he had the bead on the immigration thing, because he had guests on his show like Senator Kyle (who, admittedly, is a fine man) to discuss the issues, so listeners should listen to him (Hewitt) to keep abreast of the illegal immigration debate in Washington.  Then, in a gratuitous dig, Hewitt said something along the lines that Representative Tom Tancredo (R-CO) has exactly zero effect in Washington, DC.

My first reaction to that was to think that Hewitt needs to get his mind out of the gutter that is the “inside-the-Beltway” sewage system.  Second, however, I realized – from having heard Tancredo on both the Michael Savage and Carl Wiglesworth shows – that Tancredo has had a tremendous impact in Washington – having progressed from zero impact originally to n now being THE voice of the Republican grassroots on the issue of illegal immigration.

It is instructive to note that Tancredo has built his influence in Congress DESPITE having had to swim AGAINST the stream of pro-illegal-immigration stands by both the deceitful Bush White House (hey, my Crawford Ranch isn’t being overrun, so we don’t have a problem) and the corrupt Republican Party (supported by business owners that LOVE to hire illegals).  By the way, the Democrats are domestic enemies on the issue of illegal immigration, as they are on everything else, so they have also been obstacles to Tancredo.

Last night, as WND points out, Tancredo’s slowly and deliberately accumulated political clout in Washington was clearly demonstrated when the House of Representatives passed a border-control bill that, among other things, calls for the building of a security fence along our border with that dysfunctional country called Mexico.

I’d say it is time for Mr. Hewitt – who is indeed the most decent man in media today – to eat crow on air regarding the clout of Mr. Tancredo.

How about it, Hugh?

Meanwhile, we should never forget that, prior to the House’s passage of this border-fence bill, Mexico’s President, Vicente Fox called the idea – along with other measures to control our borders – “shameful and disgraceful.”

Right, Vince!  And you guys let just everyone who wants to come across Mexico’s southern borders from places like El Salvador, Nicaragua, Colombia, and Brazil, right?

Illegals beware! I haven't been in the real world lately, but I think we are finally getting someone to pay attention to our border problems.
