Newt Gingrich Calls out President Bush for His Idiotic Approach to Israel and the "Palestinians"

There are many things about which to criticize the sitting President (and his pathetic enablers at Foggy Bottom, Ms. Condi Rice in particular) when it comes to foreign affairs.

However, one of the most egregious has been to approach to Israel -- after having originally run in 2000 as a pro-Israeli candidate.

Rice virtually strong-armed the Israelis into stopping their war in Lebanon with Hezbollah last summer, promising a "robust" truce backed by UN troops. (For that one action, I will never again have a scintilla of respect for Condi Rice, beautiful or not.)

Moreover, Bush just announced a resumption of some sort of "peace talks" between Israel and the "Palestinians" -- all chaperoned by the US.

Bush's approach to Israel is demeaning, patronizing, counterintuitive, and spineless.

Finally, a leading Republican -- in the person of Newt Gingrich -- saw through the nonsense, and called the President on it, saying that we do not have a "peace process" in the Middle East, but a "surrender process!"

Amen to that!
